The Emperor Penguin is an amazing bird! Did you know that could withstand temperatures below -50 ° C? He lives between the sea and the edge of the Antarctic continent, in a hostile environment where rule of icy winds and temperatures at which only he can resist. If the penguin can not fly, it is instead an outstanding diver whose profile body is perfect for swimming. He spends most of his time in the icy water in search of food and can dive to great depths (up to 500 m). The emperor penguin lives in colonies which may include thousands of individuals. Each year, it breeds on the ice and lay a single egg in May, the male incubates on top of her feet while the female returns to the sea to feed.
