The Camargue is one of the oldest breeds of horses in the world. This horse with a gray robe that clears with age and turns more towards white, is generally destined only to crush the grain and is not erect. Some are chosen for riding and are reputed to be very docile and full of fire, but at the same time difficult to tame. It reaches maturity rather late at around 5 or 7 years and can live up to about 25 years. The camargue breed is now protected.
