Saber-Toothed Tiger Figurine
With its impressive canines that can measure up to 20 cm, the saber-toothed tiger holds the title of the most powerful feline to have ever existed. It is also known as Smilodon. Appearing approximately 2.5 million years ago in the Americas, this predator likely lived in prides and hunted much like modern-day lions. Smilodons could take down large animals such as bison or young mammoths, which they hunted in groups. The last smilodons became extinct 10,000 years ago.
With stealthy steps, the agile saber-toothed tiger approaches its prey. Its spotted brown coat allows it to camouflage itself perfectly in the grassland vegetation. Only the slight sway of the tall grasses could betray its presence. Once it has reached its target, the predator suddenly emerges from its hiding place and opens its jaws with a menacing growl. With a swift movement, it lunges at its prey.
